Hand made in London.

For years I had an ambition to make physical things ranging from tabletop games to props to scratch built model spaceships. It took a global pandemic where I suddenly found myself needing an outlet to distract myself from the daily updates to achieve that ambition. So I bought a laser cutter and a Resin 3D printer and I started to make things.

My first attempts were disasters. I’m a very experienced coder and others will say I’m very good at that, but making physical stuff by hand was hard and a whole new learning experience. It was not going well, but I stuck at it - refusing to give up. After a couple of months of trying I had my first tabletop game, Rock Hunters. It took ages to make a single copy of it but it looked great and before I knew it other people were asking me where they could buy it. Xiotex Artisan was born.

On this site you’ll find all the things I’m finally stopping dreaming about making and actually doing it. You’ll be able to buy them off me too - after all, it’s only because you requested the ability to do that that this site exists. I have to admit it’s going to be hard to part with some of them but it would be selfish to keep everything to myself and I’d also soon run out of space, leading to a whole set of new issues with my wife 🤣

One aspect of all this that I worry about is quality, will what I make be good enough for you? The reality is that whatever I make isn’t going to be at the level of a mass produced production line item made with professional grade equipment. That’s because I’m making it by hand with the equipment I have available to me. There will be imperfections, no two items will be identical. That will improve over time as I gain more experience and better equipment but for now, be aware that if you’re buying something from me, you’re buying those quirks and imperfections too. That’s what it means to get something made by hand, not in a factory.
